Question: How do I get rid of mice in my house and keep them out?

ANSWER  The best control for mice indoors is to use snap traps, but use a lot of them-the theory of one mouse one trap rarely works!  Lots of traps will ensure that you get them, and quickly.  Bait the traps with small amount of food or little pieces of string.

Baits may be effective, but oftentimes the mouse dies behind the wall and there is a lingering odor.  The story that they the house after eating the baits and there is no odor is simply not true!   

Keeping them out involves finding all the openings that mice can use foe entryways. An adult mouse can squeeze through a hole as small as a dime, so it takes a careful eye to spot them all.

Outside, make sure there is no clutter around the yard that mice could hide in. Keep the grass mowed. Move the firewood as far away from the house as possible. Keep lids on trash cans. If there is a bird feeder, make sure it is not close to the house - mice and other rodents like to eat the spilled seeds.
