Ask the Orkin Man

I can't get these suckers out of my house, what else can I do?

Monday, May 18, 2009

Question: HI I HAVE GRAIN WEEVIERS I JUST MOVED INTO THIS HOUSE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. I KNOW THEY WILL LIVE WITH OUT FOOD FOR UPTO 2 WEEKS. WE HAVE CLEAN EVERY THING AND MOVED ALL THE FOOD OUT OF THE KITCHEN WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO GET THESE SUCKERS OUT OF MY HOUSE

ANSWER  Probably what you have seen in the cabinets is one of the several species of beetles that infest flour and meal, the Stored Product Beetles.  There are several species, including the saw-toothed grain beetle, drugstore beetle, confused flour beetle, and cigarette beetle.

After you empty the cabinets, inspect all the food packages. Throw away any infested food. Then vacuum the cabinets thoroughly before putting the remaining food back.
