Question: Orkin was here yesterday to spray our house for fleas.
We washed linens and clothes in hot water but what about items in closets
and drawers? Should these clothes, linens, towels coats that are folded or
hanging in closets and drawers be cleaned as well?
thanks.
ANSWER You don't have to wash any clothes.
Household flea control begins with treating the animal, then treating the house. Both steps have to be done and they have to be done together, or at least the pet should be the first treated.
Pet. There are some very effective on-animal flea control products, either from the veterinarian or one of the over-the-counter products. The pet or pets must be treated first before you can hope to rid the house (carpeting) of fleas. Be sure to wash or replace the pet's bedding.
House. Vacuuming the carpet can only help to remove the eggs that drop there from the fleas on the pet, and maybe a few larvae. Vacuuming will make adult fleas come out of their cocoons and be exposed to the treatment on the carpet. Continue to vacuum for several days after the treatment.
