Home Remedies For Fruit Flies

Prevention is the most effective way to ensure that your home does not become infested with fruit flies. Fruit flies are attracted to sugary, organic materials. It is important to throw away all exposed fruit after identifying a fruit fly infestation. Any fruit brought home following that should be stored in the refrigerator. Regularly wipe counters, clean spills and empty your trashcans to prevent fruit fly infestations. In the absence of available breeding site, fruit fly adults typically die within three to four days.

Fruit flies may also breed in unclean drains. Bacterial digesters are available to pour down infested drains.
