Colorado House Spider
Despite their name, Colorado house spiders are not only found in Colorado. They are also prevalent in Idaho, Oregon, Washington and other parts of the American Northwest. Outside the United States, the Colorado house spider may be sighted in Canada, Central Asia and Europe.
The body of the Colorado house spider measures less than one inch, with a leg span of 1.5 inches. Colorado house spiders can be distinguished by dark, chevron markings on the underside of the abdomen. These spiders are primarily harmless. Although commonly mistaken for the deadly brown recluse, homeowners in cold, dry states can be sure that specimens are innocuous.
