The Cobalt Blue Tarantula's Environment

Cobalt blue tarantulas thrive in warm conditions, with humidity levels of approximately 80 per cent. They are not likely to survive cold or dry climates. These arachnids prefer to live near sources of water, although they are also capable of traveling considerable distances in search of sustenance. Cobalt blue tarantulas prefer crickets to other prey, but also consume cockroaches and other large insects.

Like many tarantula species, cobalt blue tarantulas live in burrows. These tarantulas dwell in burrows made by other creatures as often as they create their own. Reclusive in nature, cobalt blue tarantulas use their silk to form protective webbing at the entrance to the burrow. They remain inside their burrows for weeks at a time, venturing out only in search of water or food.
