Trapping mice reduces the chances of their dying within walls and other hidden, inaccessible areas of the home. If not attended to, decomposing rodents attract more pests and may cause multiple infestations.
A variety of traps can be purchased from most hardware and grocery stores. Traps should first be tested in remote areas of the home before being introduced to common areas. It may also be effective to place bait on traps without setting them for a period of time, thus introducing rodents to the traps without alerting them to implicit danger.
However, the trapping of mice requires a great deal of work on the part of the homeowner. From setting traps to disposing of caught specimens, the process can be daunting, messy and disturbing. Furthermore, traps will not prove effective in the event of severe infestations and professional extermination methods may be required.
