Rat Tracks

Rats establish foraging paths and rarely stray from them. As a result, tracks are often clearly visible to those who know what signs to look for. Outside, they are seen as cleared paths within dense grasses and vegetation. Indoors, they can be identified by the presence of grease marks along floorboards and walls.

Other signs of rat infestation include signs of chewing and droppings close to foraging paths. The front teeth of the rat are perpetually growing. As a result, these rodents must gnaw on hard surfaces to keep them at a manageable length. Rats also gnaw through wood and other unyielding surfaces in search of food sources. Rat droppings and urine are difficult to clean and may be the source of various diseases, including the deadly Hantavirus.
