What does a day in the life of an Orkin Man look like?

It’s not easy being an Orkin Man.

You have to be fearless. Bugs and critters aren’t going to stay in the open where they’re easy to find. They’re going to hide in crawlspaces under houses, or in the tiny gaps between walls and a building’s exterior, or even under the sinks!

You have to think like a detective when inspecting a home or business. Insects don’t want to be discovered, so it takes a trained eye to recognize where they might be coming from. Then, it’s time to create a solution to help remove and prevent future pest problems.

Working at Orkin isn’t just about conducting inspections. In fact, an Orkin technician – the employees you’re dealing with on a day-to-day basis – starts bright and early in the morning, determining an optimal route to visit the many locations that require service.  From scheduled weekly, to monthly, to emergency calls, the route lets an Orkin Man know what his day is going to look like.

Once the Orkin Man reviews his schedule, it’s time for the best part of his job- helping families and businesses protect themselves from annoying and potentially harmful insects. Orkin is here to make sure we keep you and your family safe by eliminating any potential threats to your home and health.

During the inspection, attention to detail is critical. It takes time to perform a thorough inspection, as every nook and cranny must be examined for signs of pest activity. That way, an Orkin technician can make the best recommendations for your customized pest management program.

After a day full of battling bugs, all that’s left is for the Orkin Man to check over his route and make sure all of his customers have been serviced along the way. Then, he simply drives home – our technicians keep their trucks while on the job – and gets ready to do it all again the next day!
