Do Ants Eat Termites?

Ants Prey on Termites

Termites have several natural predators, including ants that eat termites. In fact, ants are termites’ main enemy.

Ants commonly prey on termites because their protein-rich bodies make hearty, nutritious meals. These pests frequently live close to each other in nature, often occupying the same log or stump. With little separation between the two, ants find termites to be easy prey

Since the two pests are natural competitors, some experts believe that ants raid termite colonies in order to preserve their homes and reduce competition from nearby termites. Therefore, ants have the duel benefit of keeping a steady food source while protecting their shelter when they feed on termites.
