Spraying for bed bugs did not work

Question: I moved into a duplex unit that I found out later had been sprayed 4 times before I moved for bed bugs, the latest a week before. After a week or so of moving in I started noticing bites. I had my side of the duplex sprayed twice and did all the steps to get rid of the problem.

The gentle man who sprayed told me the spray was good for three months, well it's been four months. I always thought the neighbors had them from seeing bites but they denied it...Anyway, four months later after being sprayed I found a bed bug on my bed. I am going to be sprayed again, but if the neighboring unit has them am I looking at being sprayed every three months...

Answer: Okay...a few things to start: bed bugs are not easy to control and simply spraying will not do it, if the company only sprays and has little experience in bed bug control, it is not going to happen, no spray last three months, no matter what it is or what the pest is, nothing last three months, unless every unit is treated (or both units) at the same time (at the same time...!), then you will simply chase them from one to the other, there is never just one....baby or not.

A thorough treatment of both units by a company that has experience in treating bed bugs is necessary, and the second treatment is done within 10 days; more than simply spraying will have to be done...dusting, maybe some traps to monitor for bed bugs, treating in wall voids of the bedroom, and discarding the infested couch.
